You kidding me? The guy who wrote The Usual Suspects wrote this? What a piece of junk. An action film full of people standing around talking for most of the film. Tom Cruise should never have cast himself as Jack Reacher. Period. The character's physicality is essential to his traits and his personality. Men are supposed to cower before him and women drawn to him when he walks into a room. When Tom Cruise goes around (swelling his chest and raising his chin to look bigger) threatening people, he just looks silly. Another stupid movie in cruise's growing collection of "falling flat" movies!!
An average action film, made slightly better by Cruise, and more bizarre by Herzog, and more watchable by Pike, but still within the average range, a silk purse that still says oink. 5/10

There's been a lot of talk about how Tom Cruise isn't the right choice to play Jack Reacher. In Lee Childs' novels, he's described as 6'5" with blonde hair and blue eyes and obviously Cruise possesses none of these qualities. Well so what? James Bond was originally supposed to be a middle-aged man with grey hair (similar to Ian Fleming himself) and when The Sum of All Fears came out, the novel it's based on has Jack Ryan as middle-aged, the director of the CIA and about to put in his bid for the Presidency. In the movie, we get a CIA analyst (Ryan's first job before becoming a field agent) that looks a lot like Ben Affleck. Sure I would've liked to have seen a bit more back story to the Reacher character. It would've been nice to at least see why he has to beat every bad guy to an inch within his life. Still, Cruise does a fine job. The movie is well-paced and has some dynamic action sequences. There's plenty of humor too to balance out the darker moments. It's entertaining and it's fun. ★★★
to be fair tom cruise played jack reacher very well, lots of action and plenty of pyro-technics. he is a good actor with a good repertoire, all in all i give it 7.5/10

Have you guys ever thought of using some kind of instant messaging feature? That would deff be amazing. That way people could hear other peoples thoughts on a movie right away rather than waiting for comments to be posted. Also, I feel like the comments don't always work.
O.k so I saw the trailer and thought I wanna watch this, man this was just bad the storyline is a bit weak, the cohesiveness just was not there. this for me was a 5/10.
i'm glad Christopher McQuarrie finally decided to come back and direct; i thought "the way of the gun" was an impressive debut. His Usual Suspects (he wrote it)is obviously one of the coolest cheap movies ever made.
this reacher is pretty good as well. however, at times it does feel like some sort of tv movie. but that's because the movies PG-13 LITE with a hero whose not McQuarrie’s typical anti hero. he's not that guy in the rated R movie that your unsure of. he's that guy in the PG movie. that heroic loner who selflessly sacrifices his life for absolute strangers for no apparent reason other than it being "the right thing to do." Which is cool but I was expecting there to be a plausible connection between reacher and the people whose lives he was saving other than he just being in the neighborhood like Superman.
I don’t mind PG-13 movies and I like how CM handles the most hideous crimes off camera to bend around the ratings issue. but I’d just prefer the hero to be more grounded in reality. Reacher is like a deity who appears out of thin air to give evil doers hard justice. I’m not saying we need to see a gratuitous sex scene with rosamund pike (although her breasts screamed sex scene) to observe his humanity in action. But if i witnessed reacher sitting on a toilet it would at least prove that he wasn‘t some action figure created by an ambitious writer out to manufacture his very own jack bauer/james bond clone.
Not a huge TC fan, but this is quite a reasonable movie and well worth a watch. f you like TC or TC action movies you'll like it. Felt a little edited to me at times, so expect a longer more background version eventually on home release. 8/10.
this is a great movie. Tom Cruise is cool as fuck! no special fx. this is a proper action movie. cool story. cool twists. very enjoyable watch. Flawless!!! 5/5 Rosamund Pike is so hot. nice to see Robert Duvall and Tom Cruise in a movie together. I'd love to see a new Days of Thunder movie. that would be a huge buzz.
I really thought this movie was...really, really good. I am life long Tom Cruise fan, and have been there through some of the not so worthy flicks he starred in. But Jack Reacher is one that will go into my blue ray collection. The dialog and the deliverance were spot on, and the direction was decent...the action scenes needed some more cleaning on the editing room floor...as in they cut it down way too far. The car chase scenes ARE the best I have seen since Tarantino. Tom Cruise DID ALL of the driving in those scenes and the director of photography gets two bigg thumbs up for his foresight in useing Cruise's abillities to the fullest. This movie is must see...I give it a 4.8 outta 5 on the Reacher star scale.
Couldnt handle the quality of the film, as its just new its probably a camrip, but thanks anyhow Fleon for the upload. I watched 30mts of it and I know its going to be an awesome film and I will be checking it out again.
